Mandatory NDIS Registration for Platform Providers: What Support Workers Need to Know

Read Time – 2mins

Support Workers Listen Up! NDIS Registration is Changing…

If you are a support worker under a platform like Mable, Kynd, or similar services, big changes are on the horizon. From late 2025 or early 2026, these platform providers will be required to go through mandatory NDIS registration.

This new rule is being introduced by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission after a long consultation process that ran between October 2024 and June 2025. The goal is to strengthen safeguards and ensure consistent quality of care for clients across Australia.

Mandatory NDIS Registration for Platform Providers support workers

What This Means for Support Workers

If you currently are working under a platform like Mable or Kynd, here’s what may change for you:

  • More oversight: Platforms may introduce tighter checks, policies, or training requirements to meet the Commission’s standards
  • Qualification requirements: Some supports may only be offered by workers with certain qualifications or clearances
  • Audit-ready systems: Your record keeping, invoicing, and service notes might face more checks to ensure compliance
  • Higher accountability: Expect stricter rules around the types of supports you can deliver and how they’re documented

What This Means for Platform Providers

At the moment, many platforms allow workers to deliver NDIS supports without being registered providers themselves. With the new rules, platforms will need to:

  • Go through a full registration and audit process with the Commission
  • Meet stricter compliance and quality standards
  • Provide more oversight of the workers offering supports through their systems

This will put platforms under greater scrutiny to ensure they meet the same standards as registered providers.
